World War 3 Assured? Thermonuclear v. Protracted Conventional

In George Orwell's famous science fiction novel 1984 the concept of perpetual war or "war without end" is established as a permanent industry that employs all for the common good. "Double Speak" was a controlled propaganda machine that not only manipulated the masses by re-writing history, but also by omitting current events. Flash forward where the mainstream media knows that the biggest story it's sitting on top of is the social, civil and geo-political unrest in the Ukraine, but it would seem less likely when we sit down at "6 and 10". What has been developing in the last two to three weeks is that over 150,000 Russian troops have secured the border of southeast Ukraine while "stirring up" internal support within Ukraine. The first Ukraine soldier , an officer, was allegedly shot by Russians and Black Sea Russian naval boats have proceeded to sail into the area unchallenged as Turkish NATO forces look on. Secretary of State John Kerry has spoken to his Russian counterpart(Lavrov) and it appears an unavoidable battle is eminent. This all occurs after a referendum of Crimean citizens voted to be annexed by Russia, a NATO supported embargo on Russia, and military support being sent to Poland by western forces. After all this, it appears the end is no closer in sight as a new referendum is being proposed by pro-Russian factions within Ukraine as well. These events have all occurred on the heels of a nuclear summit held by western forces . In a press conference, the U.S. president stated , however, there was more concern for a nuclear device going off in Manhattan rather than global thermonuclear war. Many New Yorkers are still not breathing any easier after that remark. The Russian Federation was described during that summit as being just merely a "regional player" on the world stage. The leaders of the U.S., President Obama, Germany's Chancellor Merkel and Britain's Prime Minister, Cameron were all placed in a simulation of a nuclear threat situation similar to a war game scenario. The British and German leaders felt very uneasy and out of place in their contingency responses it was reported. So, what does that mean? It not only questions readiness , it is a de facto confirmation where we are headed in the world as things heat up and western forces get prepared. Just recently, North Korea fired another Inter-continental ballistic test missile(Rodong class) with a range of 650 kilometers which triggered Japan to place naval destroyer gun boats to intercept any further demonstrations by the defiant nation. Russian hegemony appears to be more difficult to contain as the world waits with the breakdown of diplomatic communications in the face of losing Ukrainian sovereignty. The diplomatic and economic responses may prove too
little and too late.
